Carlos Martinez, Communications Manager

Carlos Martinez was born in Chicago, IL, where he currently resides. He is of Mexican and Peruvian descent and grew up in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Carlos is a 2019 graduate of Arrupe College and graduated from Loyola University in Chicago in 2021 with a degree in communications.

His passion is learning, practicing, and educating others about the servant leadership philosophy, as exemplified by Chris Lowney’s quote: “Leadership is defined not by the scale of the opportunity but by the quality of the response.’ Carlos thinks that, as Lowney’s quote suggests, as long as we have the passion and the willingness to help, we must. To him, a selfless, and purpose-driven kind of leadership, is something we are in need of in our country.

Carlos is the Co-Founder of his own non-profit called Serving People with a Mission, where he seeks to provide high school and college students with leadership development and community service program. He also interned for the Office of the Chicago City Clerk where he got the chance to interact with the residents of Chicago, and support them with any need they might have. Lastly, Carlos interned for a news media organization named Project Pulso, where he got the opportunity to develop his marketing and communication skills by developing social media and community engagement strategies.
